Concessions

• Bins can be emptied from between 6am and 9pm on your collection day. We cannot return to empty bins that were not presented for collection on time.
• Place your bin at the back of the footpath, with handles facing the road and where possible, together with your neighbour's bins.
• Please remove your bin(s) from the kerbside as soon as possible after collection.

• We cannot empty any recycling bin containing the wrong materials. If your recycling bin contains the wrong material, we will not empty it unless this has been removed by its next collection day. This is to avoid spoiled loads of recycling going to landfill. Our Household Recycling pages show what can and cannot be recycled in your bins.
• Do not place hot ashes or corrosives in your bin.
• Please do not put concrete blocks, bricks, large stones or large pieces of metal in your bin as these could damage the collection vehicle.

• We cannot collect any waste that is not contained inside your bin with the bin lid closed because items can fall from overflowing bins while being lifted, which can be hazardous and leaving loose waste on the street may be treated as fly-tipping, which is an offence.
• Please do not over-pack your bin. If it’s too tightly packed the contents can jam and we may not be able to fully empty your bin. If this does happen then loosen the contents before your next scheduled collection.
• If bins are too heavy for the lifting gear a safety override will prevent them being emptied. If this happens then remove some of the contents before your next scheduled collection.

If you have any waste or recycling that does not fit in your bin, you can:

• - take your items free of charge to a Recycling Point or to a Recycling Centre
• - arrange a Bulky uplift

• We provide households with a 140-litre blue bin, emptied every two weeks.
• Households can get a 240-litre blue bin instead of the 140-litre blue bin, if the household has:
  • Five or more permanent residents, or
  • Two or more children aged under three years old, or
  • One or more resident has / have a medical condition that requires extra waste storage

• To apply for extra blue bin capacity please complete the Request a larger blue bin or additional grey, green, or brown bin online form.
• There is no provision for a smaller blue bin.

• We provide households with a 240-litre blue bin, emptied every two weeks.
• Households can get a 240-litre blue bin instead of the 140-litre blue bin, if the household has:
  • 5 or more permanent residents, or
  • Two or more children aged under 3, or
  • One or more resident has / have a medical condition that requires extra waste storage

• To apply for extra blue bin capacity please complete the Request a larger blue bin or additional grey, green, or brown bin online form.
• There is no provision for a smaller blue bin.

• We provide households with a 240-litre blue bin, emptied every two weeks.
• Households can get an extra 140-litre blue bin if the household has:
  • Six or more permanent residents, or
  • Two or more children aged under three years old, or
  • One or more resident has / have a medical condition that requires extra waste storage

• A 140-litre blue bin is available on request.

• We provide households with a 240-litre blue bin emptied every week, or a 140-litre bin every two weeks, if the household has opted out of recycling.
• Households can get a 140-litre blue bin instead of the 140-litre blue bin, if the household has:
  • Seven or more permanent residents, or
  • Two or more children aged under three years old, or
  • One or more resident has / have a medical condition that requires extra waste storage

Sack Collection

• We provide households with two sacks per week emptied every week or every two weeks.
• Households can get one sack per week, if the household has:
  • Seven or more permanent residents, or
  • Two or more children aged under three years old, or
  • One or more resident has / have a medical condition that requires extra waste storage
• You can request sacks using the 'Report a Domestic Bin Issue' form.

Extra Blue Bin Capacity

• To apply for extra blue bin capacity please complete the Request a larger blue bin or additional grey, green, or brown bin online form.
• A 140-litre blue bin is available on request.

• We provide households with a 240-litre green bin, emptied every four weeks.
• Households can get an additional 240-litre green bin if one or more resident has a medical condition that requires extra plastic and can storage.
• To apply for extra green bin capacity, please complete the Request a larger blue bin or additional grey, green, or brown bin online form.
• There is no provision for a smaller green bin.

• We provide households with a 240-litre grey bin, emptied every four weeks.
• Households can get an additional 240-litre grey bin if one or more resident has a medical condition that requires extra paper and cardboard storage.
• To apply for extra grey bin capacity, please complete the Request a larger blue bin or additional grey, green, or brown bin online form.
• There is no provision for a smaller grey bin.

• We provide households with a 240-litre brown bin, emptied every two weeks.
• Households can get an additional 240-litre brown bin if the household:
  • Regularly produces garden and food waste in excess of the standard storage capacity provided by the council, and
  • is inhabited solely by resident(s) who has/have a medical condition that mitigates against delivery by them of excess garden waste to a Recycling Centre, and
  • Fife Council agrees that home composting is not appropriate.
