Works to resurface the  A921 between The Path and Nether St, Kirkcaldy are due to start on Monday (26 August 2024), and last for four weeks.

The works from the bottom of St. Clair Street towards Kirkcaldy Harbour will be carried out in two phases.

Phase 1 will take place from 26 August to 6 September and will be from Pathhead Roundabout to Pathhead Sands Access Road. Flesh Wynd Junction A921 Nether St Road will be closed to traffic during this phase with access maintained via Mid Street.

Phase 2 will take place from 7 September to 20 September and will be from Pathhead Sands Access Road to Carrs where there will be temporary traffic lights in place. Mid Road Junction A921 Nether St will be closed to traffic during this phase with access maintained via Mid Street.

As an alternative route during the works, drivers can use  Millie Street/Nairn Street and Victoria Road to Dunnikier Road.  Access to local businesses remains unaffected with Path House Medical Practice open as usual and accessible from Mid Street.

Bus services are unaffected by the works and will run as normal although there may be slight amendments to the times because of the works. Notices will be placed at bus stops affected by the works and alternative temporary bus stops will be located nearby.

Access to the pedestrian crossing on Nether Street will be removed during the works and pedestrians can use the alternative route via the nearby underpass.

Roads Service Manager Alistair Donald said: “These works will help to further improve the condition of our road network. The works have been planned to minimise impacts on the travelling public and an alternative route will be signed to help drivers avoid the area. Road users are encouraged to plan ahead and consider the alternate route using Millie Street, Nairns Street, Victoria Road and Dunnikier Road.”
