A new lease of light for Oakley United

This article is more than 1 year old

South and West Fife Area Committee has approved funds of £7,000 for Oakley United Football Club. The money will go towards improving lighting in their football grounds.

Convener of the Committee, Cllr David Barratt said: “Oakley United is a great example of a community club that plays an important part in their neighbourhood. Alongside football, they have a good track record in tackling social isolation and improving health and fitness through their free or heavily subsidised football programmes.

“However, winter access is restricted because of a lack of appropriate lighting. I’m pleased that members have agreed to fund this improvement which will allow even more youth teams, fitness and walking groups to access the facility in the evenings.”

The club is also putting £15,000 of their own funds towards the upgrade.
