Leslie Primary and Nursery have a nurturing, caring ethos. We work with the children to promote a ‘Look Smart, Think Smart, Act Smart’ culture in school. At Leslie Primary & Nursery we try our very best:

• To encourage our pupils to always work to the best of their ability and achieve their maximum potential by providing them with a wide range of interesting and challenging experiences.
• To encourage our children to become independent learners and express their opinions through challenging their thinking and encouraging them to take risks in their learning and make informed decisions.
• Through effective teaching and learning programmes and the appropriate use of assessment we aim to ensure that all pupils’ progress at a pace suited to their abilities.
• To foster in all of our pupils a positive self-esteem and a sense of worth and promote the qualities of self-discipline and resilience and promote an atmosphere that allows our children to be happy and responsible.

We aim to:

• Show our pupils that they are part of a sharing, caring school community and to encourage self-respect and respect for others by developing a positive ethos in school and nursery based on equality, fairness and respect for others so that our children become responsible citizens.
• Develop an appreciation of the local environment and a caring attitude towards our local community and build partnerships with parents and our agency partners to benefit all our pupils.
• Encourage the children to share their learning experiences with their parents / carers Provide a quality service and build a strong team working for the benefit of every child. Promote a healthy lifestyle for the whole school community and encourage learning for life.

We celebrate our children’s school and wider achievements through their PLP. We have regular assemblies celebrating success and take opportunities to invite parents and carers to see their child receive a Headteachers award. We are proud of our active links with our local community. The children regularly have opportunities to visit and learn about the local churches, bowling club, tennis club and library. Staff at school have regular contact with our local Community Council and Fife Councillors. As a staff we have a positive behaviour policy in place and work with the children to achieve their best. At Leslie Primary and Nursery the staff are restorative in their approach to behaviour management. We work together to help children and their families solve any difficulties and restore relationships should there be any issues.
