At Kinghorn our vision is to provide a happy, caring and stimulating environment where children will recognise and achieve their potential. As a Rights Respecting School, having achieved our Gold Award for the third successive time, we endorse the rights enshrined within the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Respect is key to a positive ethos: staff’s respect for children and for each other and children’s respect for staff and for each other.

Pupil’s achievements are celebrated weekly with Stars of Success, Values Awards and Sharing of Wider Achievements.

Each pupil also works towards Merit Points for good effort in their work and behaviour which results in them achieving their Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Ruby certificates throughout the year at assemblies.

The school also has regular newsletters to keep parents informed of school activities and achievements, as well as our Kinghorn Primary School and Nursery Facebook page and our new website.

Children are encouraged to take on a role of responsibility such as being members of the RESPECT Group, Sports Committee, or JRSO's as well as having duties within the class.

We are active in promoting the four capacities – Successful Learners, Confident Individuals, Effective Contributors and Responsible Citizens and this is recognised through our ‘What’s Going On’ wall recognising the work in the classrooms and the school as a whole.

As a school we value Global Citizenship and this is key feature within the school. We have links with international schools, support various charities and celebrate national/international days and hold both Fair Trade and Fair Aware Awards.

Kinghorn Primary School was opened in 1986. It is a well appointed, semi open-plan building maintained in good order. The school is pleasantly situated overlooking the Firth of Forth. Kinghorn School has 9 classroom areas, a nursery and a large hall which is also used as a dining area. Accommodation also includes 2 additional teaching rooms.  Externally the school has two patio quads, a generous playground, a school field and a conservation area.

Pupils and adults who have mobility difficulties can access all of the school.

School Uniform

The majority of our parents are in favour of school uniform and ensure that their children wear it each school day. Kinghorn Primary School colours are burgundy and black and a variety of items can be purchased directly from our uniform supplier, BE Schoolwear, 36 High Street, Kirkcaldy. Skirts and trousers should be black. Please contact us if your require further information or assistance.

Children are also expected to change into a pair of indoor gym shoes whilst inside the building.  For physical education pupils require gym shoes or trainers, shorts and t-shirt. Gym shoes should have non-marking soles and jewellery must not be worn for health and safety reasons.
