Direct debit
Over 101,000 Fife residents now pay their council tax by direct debit. This is the simplest and most convenient way to pay. You will have the added option of spreading the cost from April to March and paying:
Set up or change an existing direct debit online.
Pay online
You can pay online by entering your council tax account number and credit/debit card details.
Telephone payments
To make a payment by debit or credit card call our 24-hour automated line, on 03451 55 00 55. You will need your council tax account number and debit/credit card details.
Mobile pay
Use your mobile to pay your council tax by debit/credit card. You can register here for Mobile pay.
Digital or Online Personal Banking
Pay your council tax using your online banking system.
Enter the following sort code and account number.
You will also need your council tax account number.
Post Office
You can pay your bill at any post office by taking along your latest council tax bill.
Paypoint
You need your latest council tax bill to pay at any PayPoint. Find your nearest PayPoint outlet at Paypoint.com.
Paying Council Tax is not a matter of choice and the Council will take action if you do not pay or do not pay on time.

Fife Council has a Corporate Debt Policy which provides information and advice to customers. Therefore, we can help if you are experiencing problems with many debts owed to the Council.
If you have not paid the amount due and have not contacted us to make a payment arrangement then we will take further action to collect the total amount due:

If you do not pay your instalments as they fall due Fife Council will issue you with reminder letters. Failure to pay the amount due or to contact us to make an arrangement will result in a 10% statutory penalty being applied. At this stage, Fife Council will either take deductions from certain state benefits or the account will be passed to Sheriff Officers for collection. The Sheriff Officer can then enforce one of the diligence's available to them such as earnings or bank arrestment. Any associated legal fees with these actions are payable by you.
