As summer turns into autumn, planned improvements to Riverside Park in Glenrothes are continuing to progress well.
Fife Council secured almost £5 million investment from the UK Government to restore the quality of the park to keep - and indeed build upon - its three-star visitor attraction status and encourage more people to come and visit the park and the wider area.
Footpath closures have been required while a rolling programme of resurfacing and construction takes place, and work across the park is being done in sections until March 2025.
From next week, the week beginning September 9, locals and visitors alike are advised that the footpath running alongside South Wood is likely to be closed for two to three weeks while new paving is laid along that stretch.
Wall repairs and scour protection will be carried out at the Lothrie Burn from next week, and this will be followed by footpath preparation and resurfacing to the path that runs under the Leslie Bridge and near Leslie Mains.
A new staircase will also be installed in the south of the park between September 9 and 13.
By the end of next week, the pond will reopen and the Heras fencing currently in place will be removed, although the immediate area is still in the plan of works for further improvement moving forward.
From the week beginning September 16 until October 4, further staircase and path works will carried out in other locations, with signage being put in place to highlight closures and diversions where appropriate.
Looking further ahead, the Pond Car Park is likely to be closed after the October school holidays for an estimated four to six weeks, while a two-week lane closure on the A911 is also planned from the week commencing October 28 to allow for the installation of a staircase.

As construction work is carried out, it is important that the public respect the access restrictions in place which have been introduced for safety reasons.
