Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice explains how we use the information that we collect about you.

In order to provide parking management services, it is necessary for us to collect and hold personal information about you. The information collected and held will vary and depend on the nature of the service 'used'. Examples of the parking management services in which personal information will be gathered are:-

Parking enforcement/Penalty Charge Notices, parking appeals, correspondence, blue badge misuse, parking dispensation and suspensions, car park season tickets, resident's permits, card payments.

This information may include:

- Basic details of your vehicle such as vehicle registration number, vehicle ownership checks (DVLA), make, model, location of vehicle, civil parking offence details.
- Basic details about you, such as address, telephone numbers, email address.
- Contact we have had with you, such as any correspondence, penalty charge notices.
- Images of your vehicle taken as part of evidence gathering as a part of the enforcement process. Images of you if the Parking Attendant has activated their body worn CCTV.
- Your credit/debit card details if you have paid for a service by card.

The legal basis for processing this data is:-
- Our legal obligation under the Road Traffic Act 1991
- Carrying out of a contract to which you are a party (season tickets, residents permits, parking dispensation and suspensions.

We may share your information with partner organisations and suppliers, including those who manage the initial challenges against Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs), administer notice processing and payments made in respect of PCNs and other organisations who recover outstanding debt owed to the Council as a result of an unpaid parking fine.

We also share information with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) in order to identify the registered keeper of a vehicle for the purpose of the enforcement of a Penalty Charge Notice in accordance with the Road Traffic Act 1991.

The Council will not keep your information for longer than is necessary. In some instances the law sets the length of time information has to be kept. The Council has a retention schedule which sets out how long we hold different types of information. This can be found here.
