Before the start of each financial year, we need to set a budget for our day-to-day expenditure. This is called the Revenue Budget and it's the amount of money we'll need to provide our services during the year. Examples include staff salaries, debt repayments, building maintenance and other supplies and services costs.
The Council is legally required to set a balanced budget each financial year. This means expenditure can not be more than the income we expect to receive from government grants, council tax, fees and charges.
