Ferryport was opened in 1976 and occupies a site, five minutes from Tayport Primary School. Built of stone, it was originally the old infant school.

It was constructed in the mid 19th Century by the local business community and is located on the main Tayport to Dundee Road.

Ferryport is Victorian in style, with what was originally two classes being turned into a large playroom. Carpeted throughout, with appropriate wet areas for nursery play etc, Ferryport is light and airy and is well appointed.

Ferryport Nursery is part of Tayport Primary School where John Hughes is the Headteacher. Kate Russell who is Depute Headteacher has charge of Ferryport Nursery.

To the rear of the nursery there is a safe enclosed outdoor play area which has been recently developed by our parents group.

By using the 'Child at the Centre' and 'The Curriculum for Excellence 3-18' to provide an appropriate child centred curriculum

- to provide support for children’s development through play

- to provide support for families

- to provide appropriate and effective resources

- to provide effective management, leadership and quality assurance

In the Nursery, the staff are continually working together to create an attractive, warm, welcoming, caring, stimulating, child-centred learning environment in which all the children are valued as individuals and in which partnerships with parents is central to our thinking.

Teaching and learning is at the heart of the Nursery. Provision is planned to allow opportunities for children to explore, discover and experiment. Staff are skilled at observing children’s levels of development and interests and use these opportunities to extend children’s skills and experiences.

Parents are encouraged to be actively involved in all nursery activities.

Our newly formed parents group meets monthly.
