Viewforth Nursery School is a self-contained building near the promenade in Leven. It consists of the original building from 1867 with a later extension, and opened as a nursery in 1976. The internal accommodation is spacious with the character of the old building retained. Considerable improvements have been made in recent years including our garden area, extending the facilities offered considerably. A controlled entry system operates on the external door. We now produce all of our own hot water through solar panels installed on the roof in October 2009.
Our aim is to create an ethos within the nursery environment where children, parents and staff work together in partnership to provide high quality provision. We achieve this by providing a child-centred curriculum in line with ‘The Child at the Centre’, The Curriculum for Excellence, and Fife Council Operational Policy for nurseries. Through this we hope each child leaves us a happy, caring, creative person with an enquiring mind and a thirst for knowledge.
The Physical Development curriculum has been enhanced greatly by our garden area which the children have access to all year round and through our participation in Forest Kindergarten trips.
We pride ourselves on our links with the local and wider community, having regular visits to Leven Beach, the woods at East Wemyss, Ravenscraig Park, Kirkcaldy Garden Centre and the local Libraries.
We actively encourage parents to be involved in all aspects of the nursery and are pleased to meet with them at anytime. We parents who accompany us on trips and assist the children with classroom activities.
